Grand Rapids, Michigan has been ranked the number three place in the nation when it comes to fun and recreation. The city has a diverse number of cultural attractions as well as wonderful outdoor recreational opportunities. The city is also full of cultural museums and art galleries. The Grand Rapids Art Museum features permanent and changing exhibits that highlight art from local, national and even international artists. The museum has collections starting in the Renaissance and moving through time to the modern day. You can view over 3,500 different prints, photographs and drawings in one gallery alone, not to mention the paintings and sculptures in the European and American galleries among many others.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is a great place to visit to explore the history of the city and the surrounding area. This museum has exhibits on nature, culture and history all in the same place. Children especially enjoy taking rides on the 1928 carousel and watching shows in the planetarium during the visit.

This city is also home to one of the most popular presidential museums, the Gerald R. Ford Museum. Visitors can learn what it's like to go to a 'White House State Dinner', take a look at a replica of the Oval Office, view the tools used to break into Watergate and enjoy many other changing exhibits. This museum takes visitors through an era of history in a very distinctive and entertaining manner.

Once you have taken in many of the area attractions, you may also want to enjoy a show of some kind. This city has hundreds of ways to entertain you through stage performances. You can choose between concerts, ballet, opera, musicals and plays when you visit Grand Rapids. The Circle Theater has five main stage shows and one children's show during their season while the Broadway Theater in the city has major professional presentations throughout the year including traveling productions from New York and other large cities. Whatever type of show you want to see, you can find in this area.
